Overview

Discover one of the most spectacular high-altitude landscapes in northern Pakistan on our 13-Day Patundas Trek Hunza via Passu Glacier. This carefully designed trekking adventure combines the dramatic glaciers and mountains of the Karakoram with the culture, villages, lakes, and historic attractions of the beautiful Hunza Valley.

The Patundas Meadows Trek, also known as the Patundas Trek or Patundas Hunza Trek, takes trekkers into the heart of Upper Hunza, also known as Gojal Valley. The trekking route begins near Borith Lake and continues through spectacular mountain terrain alongside the Passu Glacier, eventually reaching the high alpine landscapes of Patundas.

From Patundas, trekkers are rewarded with extraordinary panoramic views across the Karakoram. Depending on weather and visibility, the surrounding mountain panorama includes some of the region’s most impressive peaks and massifs, including Passu Sar, Shispare, Batura, Ultar and other dramatic mountains of the Karakoram.

Unlike a short standalone trek, this 13-day Patundas Trek Pakistan itinerary combines trekking with a complete northern Pakistan travel experience. You will explore Upper Hunza, trek through remote mountain landscapes, visit Karimabad, discover historic forts and villages, experience local Hunza culture, and travel along the legendary Karakoram Highway.

Whether you are searching for the best trek in Hunza, a Passu Glacier trekking tour, a Patundas Meadows trekking package, or an unforgettable Pakistan trekking holiday, this journey offers an exceptional introduction to the landscapes and culture of the Karakoram.

Why Choose the Patundas Trek in Hunza?

Patundas is one of the remarkable high-altitude trekking destinations of the Hunza region. Its location above the glacier systems of Upper Hunza creates an extraordinary combination of alpine meadows, rugged peaks, glaciers, valleys and traditional mountain settlements.

The adventure begins around the Borith Lake and Passu region, where the landscape changes dramatically from cultivated village terraces to wild glacial terrain.

As the trek climbs toward Patundas, the views become increasingly spectacular. Trekkers experience the immense scale of the Karakoram while remaining connected to the cultural landscape of Gojal and its mountain communities.

Patundas Trek Difficulty

The Patundas Trek difficulty is generally considered moderate, but trekkers should not underestimate the mountain environment.

The route involves trekking over uneven terrain, significant altitude, glacier-related terrain and changing mountain weather. Conditions can vary from season to season, particularly around glacier crossings.

Previous hiking experience and good physical fitness are strongly recommended. Trekkers should be comfortable walking for several hours in mountainous terrain on consecutive days.

Our itinerary allows more time than a short 2- or 3-day Patundas hike because it combines the trek with transportation, acclimatization, Hunza sightseeing and cultural experiences.

Best Time for Patundas Trek

The main trekking season for the Patundas Meadows Trek in Hunza generally falls during the warmer months when Upper Hunza is more accessible and mountain conditions are more suitable for trekking.

Summer is particularly attractive because the high pastures become accessible and the valleys are alive with agricultural activity.

Weather in the Karakoram can change quickly, however, and trekking conditions depend on snow, glacier movement, trail conditions and local weather.

Adventure Touristik monitors local conditions and may modify the trekking route where necessary for safety.
