Day 01 – Arrival in Islamabad, Pakistan

Welcome to Pakistan!

Upon arrival at Islamabad International Airport, an Adventure Touristik representative will welcome you and arrange your transfer to the hotel.

Depending on your arrival time, you can relax after your international journey or explore parts of Islamabad.

Your trekking guide will conduct a trip briefing covering the route, weather, equipment, safety procedures and final preparations.

Day 02 – Fly from Islamabad to Skardu

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the spectacular flight to Skardu, weather permitting.

The journey into Gilgit-Baltistan offers breathtaking views of Pakistan’s northern mountain landscape.

The remainder of the day can be used for rest, equipment checks and exploring Skardu.

Today is reserved for preparation and acclimatization.

Participants may explore Skardu Bazaar, purchase last-minute trekking equipment and become familiar with the landscape of Baltistan.

Depending on available time, optional local sightseeing may also be arranged.

Day 04 – Drive from Skardu toward Askole

Today the real Karakoram adventure begins.

We travel by suitable local transport toward Askole, following spectacular mountain valleys and river landscapes.

Askole is traditionally regarded as one of the final permanent settlements before entering the remote trekking corridors leading toward Baltoro, Concordia and K2.

Road conditions in this region can change, so driving times and the exact overnight location may vary according to operational and safety conditions.

Day 05 – Trek from Askole toward Jhola

The first major trekking day takes us deeper into the Karakoram wilderness.

We follow the route alongside the Braldu River and pass through increasingly dramatic mountain scenery.

The landscape becomes more rugged as villages disappear behind us.

We pass near the approach to the enormous Biafo Glacier, another legendary glacier system of the Karakoram.

Eventually, we reach the Jhola camping area.

Today we continue along the Braldu Valley toward Paiju.

The trail passes through a dramatic dry mountain environment surrounded by enormous rock formations.

As we approach Paiju, the great peaks and towers associated with the Baltoro region begin to dominate the skyline.

Paiju is an important staging point before stepping onto the Baltoro Glacier.

A strategically important acclimatization day.

Participants can rest, hydrate and prepare themselves physically for the more demanding glacial stages ahead.

Day 08 – Paiju to Khoburtse

Today we enter the world of the Baltoro Glacier.

The terrain changes dramatically as we negotiate glacial moraine, rocky surfaces and constantly changing mountain landscapes.

The legendary Trango Towers, Uli Biaho and surrounding granite formations become increasingly impressive.

This is one of the stages where trekkers begin to understand the enormous scale of the Karakoram.

Day 09 – Khoburtse to Urdukas

We continue through the Baltoro landscape toward Urdukas, one of the most spectacular campsites on the entire trek.

The trail provides extraordinary views across the glacier toward surrounding granite towers and snow-covered mountains.

Urdukas offers a memorable perspective over the Baltoro Glacier.

As evening arrives and the light changes across the mountains, this can become one of the most beautiful nights of the expedition.

Day 10 – Urdukas to Goro II

Today we move farther into the high Karakoram.

The environment becomes increasingly dominated by ice, rock and enormous mountains.

We trek toward Goro II, a high-altitude campsite situated in the glacial environment.

On clear nights, the stars above the Karakoram can be extraordinary.

Day 11 – Goro II to Concordia

One of the greatest days of the trek.

We continue toward Concordia, the legendary heart of the Central Karakoram.

As we approach Concordia, the mountain panorama expands dramatically.

Depending on weather and visibility, trekkers may see some of the greatest peaks of the Karakoram rising around the immense glacial junction.

Then comes the mountain everyone has been waiting for:

K2 – 8,611 metres.

Seeing K2 from Concordia for the first time is an unforgettable moment.

Day 12 – K2 Base Camp, Broad Peak Base Camp & Gilkey Memorial

Today is the expedition’s major objective day.

Depending on weather, trail conditions, group fitness and guide assessment, trekkers may journey along the Godwin-Austen Glacier toward Broad Peak Base Camp and onward toward K2 Base Camp.

The landscape is immense.

K2 rises dramatically above the surrounding glaciers and mountains.

Participants may visit the Gilkey Memorial, dedicated to mountaineers who lost their lives in the K2 region.

Reaching approximately 5,150 metres at K2 Base Camp represents the highest point of the standard trekking journey.

This is a demanding and potentially very long day. Participation in the full excursion will depend on individual fitness, acclimatization, weather and safety conditions.

Day 13 – Begin Return Trek toward Goro

After experiencing the heart of the Karakoram, we begin our return journey.

Although we retrace sections of the same route, the mountain scenery often appears completely different when viewed from the opposite direction.

Day 14 – Trek toward Khoburtse

Continue descending along the Baltoro route.

Enjoy renewed views of the spectacular granite formations, including the Trango Towers and other dramatic peaks.

The gradual loss of altitude is generally welcome after several nights in the high glacial environment.

Day 15 – Trek to Paiju

We continue back toward Paiju.

The increasingly lower altitude and changing terrain mark our gradual return from the high Karakoram wilderness.

Paiju provides an opportunity to rest after the demanding days on Baltoro.

Day 16 – Paiju to Jhola

Continue trekking along the Braldu Valley toward Jhola.

The landscape gradually transitions from the immense glacial world toward the lower, drier valleys.

Complete the final trekking section toward Askole or the accessible roadhead.

Meet our transport and begin the journey back toward Skardu.

Arrival timing depends heavily on road and trail conditions.

After many nights camping in the mountains, returning to a hotel and a warm shower is a welcome experience.

This day is reserved as an important contingency period.
